A brief report on Cartagena. I first went there in 1998, before it became the hot TSM destination. I recently returned form there.
Hotels. Many such as the Almirante hassle you if you bring in a chica. I prefer to stay at hotel Charlotte. At this hotel they don’t hassle you if you pay for two people. In fact, they didn’t hassle me even though I only paid for myself and my chica visited me every day. The other good thing about Hotel Charlotte is it is on the main drag-San Martin I believe between callles 7 and 9. Probably the best place to stay is Las Velas. It is very TSM friendly (no hassles) and right on the beach. Walk onto the beach and ask for Tony 1 and he can get whatever chica you can want. However, he tries to get as much money out of you as possible, so you have to be on your toes and not take any S—t from him.
The night club La Dulce Vita is across the street. There you can pick up a chica on the program. Do not go there before 11:30 PM. There are many restaurants and bars on this street as well as small grocery store and pharmacies. The dating agency “Foreign Affairs” is on this street between calles 6 and 5. There are also a number of currency exchange places and at least 1 is open until 9 PM although most close at 7 PM.
I went to Cartagena because I have a steady there but I was able to get out on my own for a couple of nights. Most of the girls I saw at the Dulce Vita were light skinned. I like dark skinned myself. Tony 1 has a number of dark skinned chicas. I met a couple of them and they were very attractive. Do not go to “Noches de America”, it is a ripoff and only about five girls were working the time I went and none of them were worth taking out. I went to the club “La Muneca” . It had a number of attractive girls. I did not take any out because I didn’t have time because of my steady. Next door is another club with rooms. You can have a chica there or take her to your hotel.
If you are into dark skinned chicas check out the Casa de Marinos. I also went to the disco called La Escollera. This disco used to get a lot of accolades on the TSM site, but when I went on a Friday it was almost empty.If you don’t want to deal with Tony 1 just walk down the beach or calle San Martin and you will encounter all the beautiful chicas you want.With respect to chicas, Cartagena is like a miniature Rio. The chicas have the same sensuality and openness with respect to sex as the Cariocas. There just aren’t as many of them. One can find very light skinned to very dark skinned The chicas are truly fine and uninhibited.
Besides the beach and chicas there is a lot of history in Cartagena. There is the old city (ciudad vieja), a large fort on a hill where the Spaniards stored all the gold in underground passageways before sending it on to Spain.History, sunshine and chicas. One could not aske for any more. Finally, Although there is a civil war in Colombia, it has not affected Cartagena. It is perhaps the safest city in Colombia.
If you cannot go to Rio, Cartagena is the next best thing.
